About You Scoop it
You Scoop it jumped to the web in early 2009 from a piece of paper and an idea as a place for 'citizen journalists' to call home. As we kept building our platform, we added new features such as being able to review the places you go. Soon afterward, these little things called "check-ins" became all the rage and we thought we'd play with it and see what we could do. We've grown a lot since then and we've added a ton of new features and lots of things to do. Our private beta was launched in early 2009 and we went into a public beta on January 29, 2011.
Cut to the chase, how does it work?
It's about all the people you know, the places you go, and the things you do (and use) in your everyday life. VentureBeat once said, "location-sharing should be a much richer experience..." and today, we're giving you just that!
At You Scoop it, it all starts with a 'listing' which can be any type of person, place or thing. From there you can use that listing check-in, discover an amazing deal, write a review, report news, add your two cents or recommend it to all of your connections. Let's not forget we're also a social community, so keeping up with your connections, what they're doing, and their whereabouts is easy at the Watercooler.
