With the deal signed it has now become official, Conan O'Brien will be vacating the 'Tonight Show' which he's only hosted for seven months. Jay Leno will be taking over again on March 1, but not before O'Brien gets in a few last jabs at NBC.
In an effort to boost his ratings, which is working, gain support and stick it to NBC - Conan has decided to add some extremely expensive skits to his show before he leaves. Last night was the most expensive yet when he introduced a new character named, the "Bugatti Veyron Mouse".
He and his crew dressed up the most expensive car in the world as mouse, put it on stage and played the 'Rolling Stones' smash hit, 'Satisfaction'. Now because of the car and royalties for the song being played on network TV, this skit will cost NBC upwards of $1.5 million.
O'Brien stated during the skit:
"Let me ask you a question. Is this appropriate music for a car that looks like a mouse? No! Does it add anything at all to this comedy bit? No, it doesn’t! Is it crazy expensive to play on the air — not to mention the rights to re-air this clip on the Internet? Hell yes."
Kudos to Conan for sticking it to the network that has stuck it to him in almost every way possible. What will he do next?
